Default New to me 2006 CTTS

Just drove my new to me (112,000) 2006 CTTS home 1000 miles nonstop. It’s Dark Olive Green Metallic with Camel and Saddle leather (supple leather) Bought it sight unseen from a dealer in Richmond, VA and drove it home in 14.5 hours to Dubuque, IA straight through. Had to set a speed warning pretty quickly because it goes from 60 to 90m in a blink. Probably going to put a new valve body in trans as a precautionary change (Revmax like I did on my S). Cardan shaft is in good shape, no cracks. Pano roof is silent and didn’t leak in rain no way home. New coils and plugs just done by dealer. Has a built in K40 detector and dealer forgot to give me remote. Had to tape over the indicator lights because it was making me crazy. Gonna tear that out. I don’t use radar detectors and since I got rid of them in 2004 I haven’t gotten a ticket and drive cross country yearly.
Rear hatch doesn’t have power lift gate yet the hatch stays up in cold weather so glass and hatch shocks must be good (give me 2 years of reprieve)

Quite a change from my 2005 S. Air suspension is nice. Gonna try out the Parking Heater function in the AM and see if it works (or figure out why it doesn’t). Understand there was a TSB that Porsche covers regarding a remote control on this feature. Coolant pipes have been changed, tees at rear were just changed. Gotta check on the transmission recall for the shift lever end that falls off and the fuel pumps recall.

Wow does the CTTS have some grunt. I can’t wait to compare it to the new twin screw supercharger I am getting on my 928. Should be similar TQ and HP numbers so that will be fun.

Air suspension is so nice. Never new what I was missing with my S but after 1000 miles with air I like it. It rides so nice.

Still surprised this Exclusive Program car came with no auto headlights, no auto wipers, no rear glass or fuel release, no power rear liftgate and no interior light control. My S has this and I figured if you spring $125,000 on a CTTS you’d get the auto features. Oh well. The Alacantra pillars and headliner with Pano roof are nice. Has a custom head unit with big sub in wheel well (no spare though!) and no second battery.

Why would this only have one battery? Anyone fill me in on that one?

Congrats. Your new Turbo S is a real beauty. Mine has 112,000 also and feels like a new car. It also does not have the features yours is missing.

Nice.
You can get the auto headlights with an ‘auto’ switch 5 minutes coding.

Very nice! It sure looks like you purchased a fine example. That color combination is really spectacular!

As to your comments about the options- it is my impression that Porsche generally "options" a lot of things on the intro year or years of a flagship model like the 2006 CTTS, then they include nearly all the options at the end of the run, as they did on the 2009-2010 CTTS. Regardless, you have a very, very nice P!G. Enjoy!

Congrats!
That really looks black in those pics. You said dark olive metallic? That sounds like an awesome color.
I've found it's best to take pictures that show the color well in indirect sunlight or at dusk.
Good luck.
Steve
(I own a black 2003 turbo. I have to change my signature pic to be more helpful in that regard).

Very nice. I'm a fellow supercharged 928 owner and also a CTTS (but mines an 09 957).

I'm pretty sure I know that car. I PPI'ed it a number of years ago, passed with flying colors at the time but decided against it. FWIW I think you got a good one.

Seems to be okay. I may need a starter in the near future. Turns over slowly, like my other cayenne did when the starter was on its way out. Trans valve body could be in the cards too. Gotta drive in town more. Shifts a little slowly. Neither of these are a bid deal so if that's all I gotta do, I call it a win.

Gonna put auto headlights in as soon as the switch arrives and replace tail lights since when i tried to take them out to replace foglight bulbs the corroded bolts broke off the tabs. AGain, no biggie.

If those coolant pipes failed before being replaced, they dump coolant all over the starter and then the starter fails about 12 months later. Any records as to when the coolant pipes were changed out?

That's a possibility, but there's also the fact that the original starter has a tendency to die.

Mine was doing the slow crank (PO had the battery replaced because of it - no change) and the 'short crank & stop' thing.

Pipes were original, and I put a new starter in when I did them.

If it's the truck I PPI'ed a few years ago, and since it's a Green '06 TTS from VA without the rocker panel molding or aero kit odds are it has to be, then it has the coolant pipes replaced.

I had to replace my starter at about 120k miles as well. Wasn't dead but was cranking so slowly it was just time.
