Found on 2004 S, in cowl area, after removing it and wipers, back near the right (passenger) side hinge area. Was opening things up to clear out cowl drains prior to our rainy season - here in CA it does not rain for 6-8 months, then we get it all during our "winter."

It was not attached to anything, just loose in the area there.

Any ideas what it is?

 

Windshield spacer, part # 955.541.530.00.

 

It's like a Cam that holds the windshield up in position during adhesive set.

 

Good info. Thanks. Fits what I found too. I think I can see where they attach. And falling off eventually and just being a loose part in the mix there makes sense.
