The Cherokee SRT is really the only thing close in size and performance but is not going to weather 150k miles as well as your Cayenne did.
Fact: Lookup all the issues they have had with wrinkled dashboard leather and warping carbon trim. Chrysler is not taking care of people on blunder this either!

The SRT also has very poor offroad performance and towing is a weak point.

Talked to my Porsche/foreign mechanic about this very thing about 6 mos ago based on dependability and repair frequency. Who know better than people who repairs cars. First recommendation was an Infinity SUV followed by Audi. If you want a vehicle with low shop time choose those.

consumer reports and JD Powers puts all dodge/Jeep products in the cellar with Range Rover.

Q7 4.2 TDI or SQ7 with the same engine. Get it chipped and it will be very close to the CTT. Or go over the top and buy a Q7 V12 TDI.

I am in the market for a 2018 or 2019 Panamera 4s and your comment caught me off guard. Don't buy a Panamera...can you give me more data on why? They are discounting them a lot but I haven't heard about "outrageous service costs" being a major reason not to purchase one. Lots of great deals out there but before I purchase I would love to hear reasons why that wouldn't be a smart move. BTW, my wife loves the Cayenne S and is hinting strongly that I get one of those. Still focused on a new or CPO'd Panamera but if I hear it isn't worth it she might get her wish.

LOL - my thoughts exactly.

Thank you all for the responses - really helpful. I'm now thinking that I need to either keep the car and resign myself to spending more money on it, or move to a lower mileage 957 (and probably also prepare for quite a lot of costs during ownership).

Alternatively, a G63 also appeals, but I think it's a slightly different price bracket.

What year of 'S'? A lot of the first gen get bore scoring at high mileages in colder climates.

I was also looking at replacing my P!g with a Panamera when it wears out (which will be never, the way this thing is going). But lately I've been seriously thinking about picking up an 80s 190 or 300 Mercedes sedan. Something to tinker with and take to Radwood gatherings.

Thanks- it’s been a really emotional ride so far. 105k miles.

well if you're looking for utility and reliability you can get your choice from one of lexus/toyota SUVs, then have a leftover $$$ for a small fun car.

I'd say skip the 190s and 300s, and look for a 560 SEC coupe with the 5.5L V8; perhaps M-B's last real automotive jewel.

Or a C43 with 5.5 + SC

I have a 955 TTS and my wife has a 957 TT. The 957 is more civilized, rides more smoothly and is overall a better ballance for a DD.
But still love my 955, especially with catless downpipes and open muffler

Have you ever driven the G63 (or any G for that matter)? It's not really comparable to a Cayenne at all, except maybe in raw power and offroad abilities (a 955/957 on ATs will perform nearly the same as a G wagon offroad, BTDT).
The ride in a G is nowhere near as smooth as in the pig and I have driven a bunch of them, including a Brabus G800 with the transplanted V12 TT before MB did it. I wanted to love it, my wife wanted to love it but I just couldn't pull the trigger after spending 1000+ miles driving them around.
