There is a noise, way before any vibration. This is low frequency and strumming. Between 40 and 60 a sort of "wummering" noise (say wummering 3 times) thats the rhythm.

I see. Thanks.

My car vibrates at 75mph+. Went to two different dealers and the 2nd one told me the tires were cupped. I guess in this case the new cardan shaft was installed properly since it is very smooth until 65mph.

The vibration sort of does not go away. Maybe it is just Cayennes are sensitive to bad highway around bay area...:P

So WCS, what is the build date on your rig? I thought this is a problem only on the early ones. Thanks.

Mine was built on early 2003. t was one of the earliest '03 S, steel spring.
Been living with the same problem for a while. The cardan shaft replacement made a marked improvement on this issue but recently my steering wheel started to shake at 75mph or so. It could be a tire issue (uneven wear) but I just got some new tires 5k miles back. This is also road/temperature related; on some highyway during some time of the day it is very smooth.

I had a slight vibration in my steering at speeds above 55 MPH which was particularly noticable when I would move the steering slightly off center. I then noticed that when I put my hand on the center console I could feel a small but definite vibration at the same speeds.

I took my TT to the dealer and the cardan shaft was replaced. The vibration in the center console has been completely eliminated and the steering wheel vibration has, for the most part, been eliminated as well.

Mine was one of the original '04 TT's, built in March '03.
