Buy it if you have more cash on hand for maintenance and repairs. That's assuming nothing catastrophic happens. I'd budget about 7k over the first year, to do maintenance and replace age related items

Default Worth even flying out for... needs nothing for next 100k/mi!

Here is a creampuff, 46,000-mile, 2004 Turbo with nearly every major service pre-emptively done. I sold the previous owner the 586hp Stage2 tune, Sebring exhaust and gutted secondary cats. He also upgraded SAT-NAV with Alpine touchscreen and new subwoofers, including backup cam:

My wife has an '04 Cayenne Turbo. No problems with the turbo, but many issues with practically everything else. Have already spent more on quirky reliability issues than what the SUV cost. It is in the shop at least every month...a money pit. This is our third Porsche (previous two were 911's with basically zero reliability issues. My last 911 I bought directly from Porsche...spent a day at the factory (Stuttgart), and never had any reliability issues at all. But Porsche engineering has changed. Read-up on the issues with that particular year of Cayenne - and set aside a lot of money for all the 'designed-to-fail' engineering issues with Porsche's money-maker. When it's running it is a blast to drive - but am taking her Cayenne Turbo to the mechanic again today...second time this month. Buyer beware...save up your money and buy a later model Cayenne - or buy an Audi SUV? instead.

Not a good buy...it’s a ‘goodbye’.

I am not very literate on Porsches, however have owned a lot of BMW, Mercedes, Audis, and Range Rovers. I am used to the higher maintenance costs, that is not what I am scared of. Just more concerned on reliability as this will be her first car. Any input would be much appreciated!

I would get as new of a cayenne six cylinder for her as you could afford, preferably a 2011 or newer as they were softer and more comfortable especially for a woman. Turbos are for the guys and a 2004 being the first year and so much more sophisticated is not a good choice.

The Cayenne Turbo is big but not too big. The suspension can go from soft to nice and stiff on demand. It has lots of power and the endurance to keep going until you're satisfied (Any more is really probably best left to the professionals). It's also very communicative and can handle all of the above with finesse that no other SUV can match! Really the only issue is the 955 looks a little 'round' in some places but the 957 has almost perfect definition for its features.

...What was I talking about again? Oh! Right! Women can appreciate the Turbo's just as much as men.

i test drove this exact cayenne turbo this weekend and walked. seemed like it had been beat on - but i could be completely wrong.

thing had zero service records at the dealer, who purchased it from another dealer auction. just didn't feel like a well-sorted vehicle to me.
