I am loving the our 2010 cayenne and I havnt heard a bad thing about the v6. I am wondering how many of these have made it past 200k... any insight would be interesting.

I have 176K on mine. Any engine would last past 200K miles as long as you keep throwing consumables and parts at it. It's the question of whether it's worth fixing or getting rid of it when the repairs become too big. Besides, most of the time the rest of the car will fall apart before the engine.

Each engine has its pros and cons.

Pros:
Lighter than V8 models, so the handling is slightly more crisp
Many shared parts with other VAG products so parts are reasonably priced
Lot more space to work in the engine bay

Cons:
Slow, even with a manual
MPG is not much higher than a comparable V8 trims
Doesn't sound good as a V8
oil separator diaphragm fails like the V8, causing rough running/whistling noise from the intake area
common coolant leak from the pipe on the right side of the engine, https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...ant-leak-help/
Leaky valve cover gaskets
Coil Packs

These issues seem to be pretty common issues with this V6. Well, changing valve cover gasket won't be easy like in an older BMW inline 6 or your typical V6/V8 engine

My V6 has close to 160k on it. I've done coil packs, but other than I haven't had any trouble with it. I fully expect to take it to 200k.

Which V6 are you talking about, the base or the ones in the S and GTS?

True, the previous poster is hitting the rock a little too hard this morning.

Only the Base has the V6. Everything else has the 4.5 or 4.8 based V8.

FWIW there are a few V8s over 200k here!

I've got 14,080 miles on my 2009 Cayenne V6. Will report back when I get higher.
