Launching the Cayenne
What are the best ways of bringing the Cayenne from a full stop to 60 mph and beyond?
It seems like some launch styles would not be overly abusive, making them applicable for frequent use, while others might be detrimental to use often.
If applicable, please state turbo or S.

For all-out speed, manually shift into 1st gear, then smash the gas. You could try to give part throttle while holding the vehicle still with the brake to get everything ready, then smash the gas as soon as you let go of the brake, but I don't think it helps anything, including the cayenne much. The thing will start from second usually, but will drop to first when taking off fast, but it takes a second or two. Works for either S or TT

Well if you use the tiptronic portion(doing it manually) all you need is mash the pedal to the metal and when it gets close to redline(I see it upshifting at about 6000 rpms)it automatically engages next gear and the same with the other gears without having to upshift manually. Regards. Mike

How about while at your "launching point", (Stop light when that Escalade with the 26" rims pulls up), while leaving the "Pepper" in automatic, manually down shift to first via the sterring wheel paddles and then "hit the pedal to the metal".
That way you should take off in first, and then let the car auto-shift the rest of the way. Remember, when it comes to "Drag Racing", all the dragsters are automatics (well, computer controlled clutch packs, but close enough)...
Granted, my Cayenne is still on order, but this is how I did it on my friends Cayenne Turbo and it seemed to work nicely. I know he got a "bang" out of it

I have found I can launch it a bit faster by manually going into 1st, pedal to metal and when tach needle is pointing straight up, or as close as you can get to it since it goes to redline rather quickly, tip it to 2nd and then let the truck do the rest the shifting.
Automatic hangs in manual for 8 seconds waiting for you to manually shift it again so play around with it. Try moving shifter to left and hold pedal to metal and manually shift here, never letting up. This will require a neck brace afterwards!
I'd hope you can't damage it in any kind of way

Best way is to set first gear and "hit it".
