-28 Cayenne Testing
Thought I'd check on others experiences with REAL cold. Thur/Fri this week I ran my Cayenne in -28 F (not wind chill). No suspension, engine or drivetrain groans. Noticed the brakes squealed a little more. Initial shift into d2 is REAL hard but used the suggestions from this forum to manually shift and that worked much better.
Only real issue was the radio (non-PCM) stuck twice in logo mode (PORSCHE) and would not move or work. Once I restarted engine and car warmed up it worked fine.
Wednesday I'm off for a snowmobile weekend with 4 sleds and a bunch of gear. Can't wait to see my buddy's facing when the see the Porsche!
Any other cold weather expereinces?

Have used my "S" for several days in -0 F temperatures for at least 10 days and experienced no negative "changes" what so ever. It was as if the temperatures outside were 65 F.
No creaks, groans, and NO start up problems at all; and I have only one battery! No electronics problems or "scrambling"
Magnificent very fast heated seats. Climate control system never required me to manually overide and it very evenly distributed heat where it was needed.
Very pleased.

Last week we had temps of -38 degrees Celcius. With the windchill, it was -51 degrees Celcius. I'm not sure on the conversion to Farenheit, buit it's pretty frickin' cold.
Our Cayennes had no problems. The S demo and our V6 demo were fired up with no problems or hesitations on Monday morning, after being outisde since Saturday.
On Tuesday, we needed to move all 6 of our in stock Cayennes so we could plow the 10 inches or so of snow we had the night before. Everything started easily.
The heaters on all of them warm up quickly, and heat is excellent in both the front and rear seat areas.
As a side note, our Touaregs needed help getting started, and our Touareg V8 demo needed to be towed inside (by a Cayenne S) so it could thaw out and get started.

I've noticed some oil burning smells and noticed that the front hood was steaming when I got out today. The smell also came from within the cabin. I'm worried!! Also I was driving aggressively in the slush and a significant amount might have decided to climb up into the undercarriage.
Otherwise the car drives great. The only time you feel the weight is when braking downhill on icy surfaces. Otherwise the traction keeps you in line without being too intrusive like ESP (Mercs). I also feel that winter tires would help a bit since I have continental all season. Car is pretty much at desired temp after 5 - 10 minutes of driving and defoggers clear the glass really well. But enough said - the Cayenne is awesome.
