Default Silver wheel paint matching

Following on from my post about getting some new wheels

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...ra-wheels.html

I have one of them that has some fairly deep kerb rash and at a guess I think I will need to sand (hopefully not fill) which means respraying those sections. Then finish with a lacquer. Hopefully I can just blend it all in with the factory colour but here is where I need some help. Not sure which silver is the best colour or closest match ?

Some people say Wurth Silver so anyone done something similar or knows the best match . Bear in mind I am in the UK so a bit limited on stuff we can get here

This is the wheel in question

I think what you want is Wurth Silver Wheel Paint.

I think you will need to shoot the whole wheel. Blending is not likely to work for a host of reasons.

Wurth Silver is the right match. I have blended before with no issues and just completely refinished two wheels for my Mercedes daily driver with Wurth paint as well.

Be sure to get the Wurth clear as well. Lay on 4-5 coats of clear, then wet sand with 2000 and buff to get rid of any orange peel.

Just make sure they have not been refurbished in the past as the colour may not be the same

All good suggestions, thanks guys. I see I can get the Wurth Silver over here plus the clear coat , have some experience in wet sanding so thats fine. Will have to go harder to get rid of the rash but hopefully not too far down. Looks like the previous owner didn't clean the inside of the wheels, ever and there are two wheels with heavy staining so if clay bar dosent shift it , I may end up blowing over the insides anyway . Will post up pics when done

If you can’t match, Plasti Dip such as their aluminium look is getting better these days. And you can touch up any further rash real easy and quick (don’t shoot me). I did my gear surround as a test and was surprised.

Oh yes Tats, I saw your surround a week or so ago and looks very good indeed. I have used Plasti-dip before just never on wheels. Your part is flat silver, can you clear coat over that stuff ?

You can use the glossifier Plasti Dip thing and there is also a metallizer thing too. Not sure about true clear coat. This is a metallic finish tho out of the can.

Well it all turned out pretty good in the end. Not perfect but ok for doing it in a shed

Had to spray paint every one of the inside barrels as it looked odd just doing the two with heavy staining.

Then managed to get the one with the kerb rash sorted.

and then as it was her birthday I did a little bit of wrapping..

She will never guess

The wheel looks very good. Good call addressing the barrels. You used the Würth silver? Any lessons learned?

Yes Wurth Silver inside and out. My experience was ok but boy is that silver rough to the touch .i wet sanded the primer to make it smoother but that amount of silver flake makes it rough as a badgers ****
the clear coat helped a little but really to do a proper job I guess you would need to lay down quite a few coats of clear
apart from that and the fiddly masking it wasn’t too bad.
