Default Battery Charger

Is anyone using the Porsche plug in charger ($70.00)
I plugged mine into a 12V socket. last night. I haven't had any problems thus far, but I only drive the car on weekends if nice (have PZero 19") and now with the weather bad and very cold thought I would try it.

I use them since years - never probs with it. I used it also for my bike.
Your car stays allways start ready with it - even if you dont touch him a half year and you dont need to bother with the battery. But in case your battery
is completely empty by accident (door open over night etc) this thing will not load up your battery - its named "charger" but it is not the same system like traditional ones. The chargomat dont work in cars like Benzes cuz their lighter is switched off when ignition is off - Porsch lighters have allways power and are connected. In this case you need to install another lighter or rewire your existing one. Its a cool tool.

I have 2 of the Porsche battery maintainers, one for each 911 now sleeping in the garage for the winter. Bought it online from Suncoast Motorsports, $59:

Have never had a problem with them, work exactly as advertised

I also use a charger, had to have the cigar lighter om my 928 GTS live wired at my OPC. Now when the beast is living for long periods in the garage, you know it's going to start first time. I was a bit cautious leaving everything plugged in but we haven't burnt the house down yet!

Yes, the red light may stay on for 1-2 days initially, as the battery is brought up to full charge, based on the design of the charger electronics.

If it stays on, then it is likely that you have an electrical drain (light on, door open, glove box ajar) or low water level in battery.

I agree with Lewis, red light stays on when taking charge, off when fully topped up. I guess radio alarm etc draws current and charger kicks in when needed.
