Possibly year related, although I haven't heard of that being an issue on the 955 series.
Mine is an '04 and fwiw I can reset service reminders with the odometer button. No reset was needed for my brake pad warning.

Interesting! Just by pressing the button as if re-setting the mileage?

Most likely your e-brake is sticking. Release and pull it up at the same time. This is very common and if your sensors are in tact, this is most likely the problem. You do not need to go to the shop to reset the light. That guy’s friend is wrong.

Not exactly.
You hold down the trip odometer reset button while turning the ignition key to the on position.
Service Reset will display. You then use the button on the wiper stalk to reset and the annoying messages will be gone.

Keep in mind this only works on early Cayennes. I've also heard that if a dealership has updated your ECU programming at any time, that feature will be gone.

I can't reset the service light from the odometer button on my 2005 Cayenne Turbo.

I can't seem to do it on my 2006 Cayenne S either, but thanks for the suggestion
