Convertion project HID Headlights to LED, Cayenne S 06
I got an extra set of HID headlights with bad wire harness and bad HID ballast. I'm working on a conversion to LED. I got most of the wires already replaced. The only issue I have is the wires which run to the ballast and from the ballast to the leveling motor. The ballast will be eliminated with the new LED projector, but which of the wires will be used and can be routed direct to the leveling motor.
This is from the plug at the headlight housing. Does anyone know which wires can be connected direct to the leveling motor ?
Thanks for any input.

I forgot to add that the following wires from the plug are connected to plug for the ballast:
1 - GHVAC
5 - low beam - that would connect to the LED
7 - Control unit 31
11 - KLEAD
12 - error indicator
There are 5 wires going from the same plug to the leveling motor plug.
Thanks

Today I did a comparison of the additional High Beam.
At the left is the LED installed at the right the H7 Halogen.
This is against a Cardboard. The H7 Halogen is at the left, the LED is at the right.
I checked the temperature and there is also a difference, the LED runs much cooler.
The H7 produces more heat.
More to come.

It appears to me that the bluish bulb is just putting out scattered light into places where you would not want/need it to go and the original H7 is doing a much better job focusing the light where you need it. It seems to considerably outshine even inside the LED's focal point. If you are intending on blinding oncoming semi truck drivers 1 mile up the road you may accomplish that feat!

I just like to clarify that the H7 in the Cayenne headlight is the additional High Beam light, and is on when the Main Projector is on High Beam. The Main Low beam light will be replaced with a LED projector which has a cut-off like the HID, the big difference is that it that the LED projector comes on instantly, it doesn't need a ballast which can go bad, and doesn't have the HID bulb which need time to get up to full brightness and also burns out eventually.
The low beam light will look like this LED installed in a 911.

The leveling motor is a stepper controlled by the control unit. I imagine you will get many errors when you remove the ballast and the leveling motors will never work. I really hate the oem led's and I think your conversion will be much worse. Not bad for the additional high beam though.

Further on the LED conversion, I think the OEM halogens are awful, considering upgrading to LED like the below anyone have further experience in this conversion:

I have done it on some of our other vehicles and regret it. Those damn Chinese made LED's have terrible quality control. I have had three fail within 6 months of install. It defeats the point of having strong headlights if you are always getting pulled over for having one out.

Having tried several LED bulbs in a few vehicles I have found that the biggest failing with all of them is that the hotspot in the beam is always missing - you basically just get a huge swathe of light across the whole beam. This causes the human eye pupils to close in reaction to the brighter light and therefore you lose the ability to see much further than where the low beam normally reaches. So although the LED is much brighter, it may not allow you to see further, which is obviously want you want. When someone develops a 'pencil beam' LED bulb I will stick with my Xenons and halogens .
