Success...No More "clunk" from 5 to 4
Shortly after picking up my new to me 05 CS w/65k miles, I discovered it had the dreaded "clunk" from 5 to 4th. Of course the issue it didn't present itself on my test drive, but when I mashed the throttle on my drive home after it was fully warmed up, I thought the transmission was coming through floor boards. I immediately knew I was in for a valve body. Although a little apprehensive, but I also hated anticipating the clunk on hills over downshifting. I decided to dive in and tackle it myself after reading several threads on Rennlist and Renntech, and ended up going with the updated valve body from RevMaxx. I went with all Porsche parts for the rest of the job (new VB bolts, pan gasket, seals, filter). I have seen some do the job in 3 hrs, it took me a little over 4, but I was taking my time. My iCarScan came in handy for monitoring the trans temp during the fill.
Overall, very happy.
Fresh parts ready to go.
My VB before removal.
Updated RevMaxx VB
Plenty of room, but messy job.

Congratulations to you! Four hours seems totally reasonable as one has to stay hydrated...
Just out of curiosity, did your shift times improve with the new valve body? My CTTS is at 88k miles and while I have no clunk or erratic shifting, the time it takes to change gears, either in manual or auto mode, seem to be slower than before.
Cheers,
TomF

Not sure about the shift times. I may "clear" the transmission memory and let it relearn shift points.
