Default Thinking about buying an '08 GTS

This forum has been invaluable to me through the years. Everyone is so helpful and willing to offer their .02 in a non inflammatory manner but with enough wit to keep things from being too bland. I'm ready to buy one now. Had a couple questions for the pig Illuminati:

Does the 08 GTS suffer from the plastic coolant pipe issue? I searched the Coolant Pipe A-Z thread but didn't come back with conclusive evidence.

Potential Off Road capabilities of the GTS. I know the GTS wheel size, lower ride height and ground effects make it the worst equipped of the Cayenne models to leave the payment. My question is this however: If I was to purchase smaller wheels with A/T tires and remove the ground effects would I be on par with S and TT models off road capabilities? Is there a gearing specific to the GTS, or does the air suspension not go as high as an S or TT?

Thanks ahead of time.

08 does not suffer from the plastic cooling pipe problem. That was only the 955s (03 - 06). It does have a potential issue with the water manifold at the back, but it's much more of a "might happen" than a "will happen".

GTS actually has lower gearing in the diffs (4,10 vs 3.70), so it's geared lower. AFAIK, the air suspension goes up as high in all of them. Not sure how common air suspension is in the GTS though.

Find one with PDCC so your on road adventures are as much fun as your offroad ones, especially if going with a smaller wheel and taller sidewall tire, which will introduce a little more roll.

With the air suspension, you can also recalibrate it to add a bit of height if you need to. The 957 still has the more capable low range transfer case so should do great off road for you.
