Why would my odometer reset itself to 8 total miles after sitting there with the battery disconnected for two weeks while I was doing an intake refresh/valve cover gasket replace/ starter r&r?
I show 14 miles now and I'd like to put it back to 180,200 where it was.
Ideas? Will my durametric enthusiast version fix this? Will the pro version? Dealer is 90 miles each way.
Odometer from August 27th, 2017 when I bought it.
Odometer from today, December 27th after hooking up battery

That's a trip. I had my battery, dme, and various wiring / control units disconnected for 3 years and picked up right where they left off. The dealer can fix it with the PiWIS but there are technical stipulations and I think you should contact them immediately.
I contacted two different dealers and they told me it's impossible to roll the odometer ahead. I'm going to take the technical documents up with me and say do this.

That's not true. And most dealers don't even know how to work their own software. I remember reading either in my PIWIS tech updates or the FSM that the cluster must be between like 15 and 65 miles showing to accept the programming of the new mileage. I'm sure this is to prevent fraud and if you were to order a new cluster it would come ready to be programmed by the dealer. I can look in my PIWIS software later and show you the workflow with some screenshots.

When i swapped in a euro spec cluster in my old vw gti (0 miles) they said the same thing... has to be under 50 miles or something, but i could never get it to work with vcds... like a year of driving later,I found vag-tacho and that let me roll forward/back to whatever i wanted so i finally was able to get it rolled forward correctly. not sure if that supports the cayenne cluster but worth looking in to..
Honestly this is a huge legal issue and a bug that PCNA should be willing to rectify for free. I would reach out before I spent a dime. When I first got my software I thought oh wow, I can just roll my odometer back. No, it doesnt work like that. I'm going to try and find the tech data for you Jeff.
I escalated this to PCNA. I got a response. It should be interesting to see how they deal with this.
Mr. Spahn,
I regret to learn of the vehicle concern you have with your 2005 Cayenne S.
In order for me to look into this further for you, I do need some additional information.
First, if you could provide me with the VIN of the vehicle, this will be helpful in my research. Next, do you remember the name of who you spoke with at Zimbrick Porsche in Madison WI? If you do not, that is okay, and I will speak with the service manager at the dealership regarding your vehicle concern.
Mr. Spahn, I look forward to your reply. Once I have the VIN of your vehicle, I will be able to follow-up with the dealership. Our normal turn around time is about 1-2 business days.
Kind Regards,

Did you have the key in the ignition when the battery was connected/disconnected? Obviously you probably had the door open when you disconnected the battery, did you manually move the door or hood latches to put the car into sleep mode and then wait a bit for the car to power down?
Key was out of the ignition. Seat was moved back so I had more room. I opened the doors manually a few times while battery was disconnected but never used the key. Car was unlocked the whole time. Power was disconnected while hood was open. Took me a while to get to the starter to disconnect anything electrical so I would think the hours between disconnecting battery and disconnecting starter would be sufficient. Hood was open when battery was connected. Car was started before the seat was moved back. Never got a radio code (have CDR23), never lost stations, never lost seat memory. Battery was disconnected per the manual at the negative post under the driver side floor mat.
Porsche got back to me today. Seems now that my dealer (after PCNA called them) can and is willing to put my mileage back to where it should be...for 1.5 hours of shop time. A theft for 5 min of work but it will be right again...i hope.
I currently sitting in the waiting area of Zimbrick in Madison, Wi. The service writer told me the newest version of their diagnostic computer cannot set the mileage. They are digging out their old machine to see if that can. I may end up getting the internet device in the end that forces mileage change.
The dealer was unable to change my mileage was either the new or old PWIS system. They did offer to sell me a new cluster for $2000 I politely declined
