BWHAHAHA, that is no surprise. They wouldn't let you look over his shoulder either, right? Are you wondering a bit if they even tried and did they still charge you the 1.5 hours of labor?

Well, I tend to believe they did. After PCNA talked to them their attitude changed. They ended up only charging me for 45 min of time and tried two different PWIS systems, and old and new version of software. The service writer pulled me aside and said perhaps disconnect the battery again and let it sit for two weeks and see if it zeros. He said they could sell me a new cluster for 2100 installed but thought that was a bit excessive and didn't recommend it. Points to him for honesty. If it does, bring it up with less than 62 miles on it and our system would likely let us program it. I might try that if I don't buy the OBD programmer. They Cayenne is a daily driver but I have a 8 other vehicles I can drive so letting it sit isn't a big deal. I just want it right.
So as a further update. I pulled my cluster to replace the speaker (easy job BTW) and I thought, hmmmm, lets test the battery theory. So I disconnected the negative, waited a few minutes (10-15) while getting coffee. Came back and hooked up negative. Center display says service now and odometer flashes alternately errOr and the mileage. Trip meter is blank. So, apparently my cluster has an issue or they are just made of tissue paper. I ordered an odometer reset tool that can force a mileage into both registers. We will see if this works, if not, I'll have the cluster rebuilt. At least now I know how easy it is to get out. easy out plug wire orientation (probably doesn't matter) new speaker in
I did, except it was into my 957 GTS. After getting it to someone with a PIWIS, everything works just fine. Just the mileage reads lower than it should be by 6000 miles

I’m trying to do something similar, but 08 Turbo into my 08 Base. What had to be programmed? I heard it was simply plug and play other than the odometer becasue the gateway module is under the dash as oppose to 955 models where they have stored in the cluster. Did you also figure out the way to adjust the odometer?

When I swapped them over, my TPMS and cornering lights no longer worked- both gave errors. The gentleman who used his PIWIS reset the VIN on the turbo cluster, typed mine in, and the re-enabled the cornering lamps and TPMS.
Other than that, it was plug and play. Edit- my mileage is still 6000 miles less than what the vehicle actually has.

Interesting! Thank you for the update. I’m still waiting for mine to arrive in the mail but with so mant mixed reviews, I’m not sure whether I should be excited or concerened. Some mentioned that it can simply be reset by replacing fuse number 40. But others say it has to be done by PIWIS or Durametric pro. My car isn’t equipped with certain features such as air suspensions and oem navigation. The problem is that I don’t know anyone with PIWIS access apart from the dealer, who basically told me this cannot be done for some reason.
I would be willing to lend out my tool out for say $15 plus you pay shipping both ways. Anyone interested? I did experience a "protect" scenario on my CDR23 radio. Since I am replacing it I really don't care but if you replace your cluster be aware it can affect your audio system as it may think it is in a different vehicle.
Jeff, did you ever get the odometer reading correct? My tach died on my 2005 Cayenne Turbo and I replaced the instrument cluster with one from another 2005 Cayenne Turbo but the odometer reads 46,000 instead of 153,000. I'm hoping I can correct this somehow.
Hi Jeff, Sorry to be a bother. I know this is an older thread. Did you ever reset the odometer? Did this computer work? I need to get something to adjust mine on a Porsche Cayenne Turbo 05. Thanks!
