Default Spare Tire Carrier

My S got smacked in an icy parking lot so I have to replace the rear bumper cover, right rear tail light assembly and the cargo hatch. My dealership tells me that Porsche now has a kit to retrofit the spare tire carrier on the Cayenne. Requires new bumper cover and hatch. Does anyone here know if this can be done? Thanks,

Cay-ute

Did you find out any information on the spare tire carrier? My wife was also hit from behind tonight and is also going to need the rear hatch and bumper, I also agree this would be a good time to upgrade if the the kit is no to difficult to get or install

Sppedy993Tt - I do not have final confirmation but it appears that the dealer is working with my repair shop to get the necessary parts. I have to replace the rear bumper cover and the hatch door. I can't imagine that the rest of the pieces would make it all that difficult. I will let you know as soon as I hear, which should be tomorrow. Take care,

All, I heard from my repair shop today. To add the spare tire carrier would cost about $3200 above replacing the rear bumper cover and hatch door. The break down is as follows.

Steel Bar under bumper cover $475
Steel Frame to support spare tire $2150
Tire Cover $390
Misc (I didn't get this far as I was choling severely)

Needless to say, I passed. This is ridiculous.

Well, I called several dealerships around the country Including the the 2 largest in N/A, what they are telling me is that the spare tire carrier kit listed in the Tech Equipment catalog is unavailable, and they don't know when I't will be. Needless to say I'm very disappointed. This was a good time for the upgrade while the truck was down and needs some new parts the same ones required for the spare tire installation. If any one knows where the kit can be had let me know.

Thanks

If I recall correctly, Porsche cancelled the spare tire carrier as a Tequipment option. It's in the Tequipment catalog, but has been cancelled. Apparently the install times made the dealer install totally cost prohibitive. It was something like 10 to 15 hours labour or something ridiculous like that.

Yours though is being taken apart anyway, so it should be possible. At the very least, you should be able to order the parts through your parts department. The Carrier is on the PET system.
