Default Front Tires Cupped

I got a flat tire and upon removing the flat, noticed the inside edge of the tire (right, front) is wearing significantly.

The vehcicle is a 2012 CTT and is under a CPO. I've had the car for about 11 months and 9k miles.

The car tracks straight and does no pull in either direction. Could this be a control arm issue? An alignment (despite the not obvious need)? I've not yet checked the left tire for similar wear but suspect it'll be there.

Just did a bit more research on this and I don't think the wear pattern is it's cupped per se, but rather a uniform inside edge wear, suggesting worn suspension.

Inside wear is usually the result of toe-out or excessive camber. Since you say it is tracking straight, then more than likely a camber issue as toe would have a significant effect on how it tracks. I would first have the alignment checked/ adjusted. Then go from there depending on results.

+1

Had this issue on a 928 and the toe out was so excessive that the handling was very stable. Once I fixed the alignment, the car was very erratic, which then led me to discover the loose front end suspension components that created the excessive toe out condition. As AO says, get the alignment checked first and go from there.
