Engine blew - options? advice?

So you buy a used engine for $X and pay $2800 to have it installed. What if the engine, once in the car and running isn't as expected and has other issues? Then you pay another $2800 to have it removed and try again? I'm not fan of used engines. But I see that to get a rebuilt one is around $22k just for the engine. Wow!! Unless I could do all that work myself and play around with it, I'd sell the car as is. Cut your losses now.

Just my opinion... keep a Porsche a Porsche, don't make it a SubaPorsche. People that are trying to mod a front engineered engine into a mid or rear engine layout have experienced all kinds of issues with oil starvation and end up spending more money than it would have cost to replace or rebuild their M96. The latest is the K24 swap thread.
The only ones that seem to work are the LS swap guys, but with a V8 layout, you lose the low center of gravity the Porsches are known for.
