Default convertibles being outlawed?

here's a good one that the boxster crowd might enjoy (convertibles). my neighbor test drove a jeep unlimited over the weekend. after he left (without buying) the salesperson called him to tell him that he really should move up his purchase date because the federal government want's to outlaw convertibles. not that I'm surprised by the tackiness of a Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler rep. just a reminder that Jeep is more Chrysler than fiat I guess.

Haaaaaaaaaaaa...... I missed it too.

They will never outlaw convertibles. Nor will they outlaw motorcycles. Typical salesman BS.

What the salesman said falls under "everything a car salesman tells you is intended to get you to buy the car as soon as possible and to pay as much for the car as possible".

Some salesman are not so, ummm, obvious.

Might add a good comeback would be to ask how much discount would the car then get since its resale value being soon to be zilch due to being declared illegal would drop to zero?

I sold cars for a short time between jobs and my manager was an old school car salesman. He used to say about customers " If their lips are moving, they are lying"

I think its more the other way around with a lot of car salesmen
