Default Put me in with the IMS retrofit crew

I'm having mine done. Not that I have an overwhelming fear of it failing, but because I'm driving the car on my honeymoon to California, and it would really put a damper on the day if it failed the day after getting married...

Do things now before you have to "get permission".

I think you made a wise decision. What's the mileage at? If you would, report your findings. Mostly though enjoy your Honeymoon.

I'm at 52K. I did talk it over with my lovely bride-to-be before hand... she suggested it.

Ok. Pulled the stock bearing, it has some play. Not too terribly much but more than the new one by a long shot. I think we can say it was in the likely to fail camp... 54k miles when changed

My son and I completed the replacement last weekend with the LNE single row on my 2003-S 6 speed with 97k. The old IMS was tight and likely would have been fine. I'm the original owner and frequent higher shift points, so there may be some merit to driving like the car was intended to be driven. During the R/R process we also installed a new clutch kit, plugs, tranny fluid and oil. Drove 1,000 miles this week- runs like a top with renewed confidence (aka lake of fear).
