Default roll hoop scalp fears

A relative has a 2002 Boxster S that I drive routinely. My normal car is a '96 993. The differences in comfort are huge. I am 6'2" and cannot get that boxster seat in a position where it's comfortable AND I don't feel like in a rear end collision that darn roll hoop isn't going to take the top of my head off. Anyone else notice this?

Do you have the seat in the lowest position? Do the roll hoops have the factory padding?

I'm 6-1 and to pass the broomstick test for DE I had to use lowering brackets for the seats and the rollbar extension (Brey Krause).

It is a true bolt-in roll bar. Combined with the windshield surround header you are protected for rollovers. Just think what it would be like if the rollbar was not there, & you encountered enough force to bend it!

I'm 6' but with a long torso. I found I had to compromise a little comfort to assure I could get my head back under the roll bar hoop in a rear ender. Sure enough one happened and never felt a thing. I had the seat up forward a bit and reclined.

I think overall, these roll bars are a very good safety "device".
Note that for many track days, (and according to your tires, i.e.: if you run sticky R-compound tires), you have to have a "roll bar extension, that fits on the top of the OEM bars, and somehow extend the "clearance" level.
i.e.: http://www.ebsracing.com/item.wws?mf...USE&sku=BK3010
Not great for the aesthetic, ..but with sticky tires (raising the risk of ... !!)
