Need help in decoding engine number
I bought a 2004 3.2l Boxter S from a Porsche dealer in another city last summer. It had 36,500 miles on it then and has 37,200 now. When I got the maintenance records with the car, I found it got a Porsche remanufactured engine in August 2010 under warranty at 30,750 miles due to IMS failure.
I would like to interpret the engine number to find out the date of remanufacture and any other useful data pertaining to configuration of the IMS and RMS that is in the new engine. I saw a thread on this somewhere recently, but can't find it now.

If the engine is remanufactured you do not know the year. That is the original serial number is not removed and a new one stamped in its place. My info is there is an 'X' stamped after the serial number to let one know the engine was remanufactured.

Back in 2009, Mac posted this
20 is 2.5l engine; 6 is 6 cylinder; 5 is engine version; V is model year; and 00224 is sequential serial number.
Model years: v w x y z
v = 1995
w = 1996
x = 1997
y = 1998
z = 1999
0 = 2000
1 = 2001
2 = 2002
and so on...

I couldn't remember the letter year sequence (it is the same as that used by the VIN) and I didn't have time to look up.

Need help, etc.
My engine no. is M96/24AT67466236. I've found that the last engine to go into a model year 2004 Boxter S was 6000nnnnn. Those after that were replacement engines. Thus, I think I got one with the latest IMS & RMS mods. The P dealer in another city had serviced the car from 2004 to 2010 until the goodwill replacement.

I know this is an older post, but my question follows this thread and wasn't sure how to interpret my engine number. Had a new clutch placed today and discovered that my engine was not the factory installed one (love surprises).
Engine number: M96/24AT67465811.
M96/24 - 2004 Boxster S engine
AT - remanufactured engine from Porsche
Not sure what the rest of the numbers mean.
Appreciate your help.
