No. Not with those questions being asked.

The job is beyond you.

That's ok, I had help with several engine R&R's that is helping a professional mechanic perform these before I tackled my first on my own.

And I removed the intake and head and pulled the engine out by hand -- I was stronger then. I used an engine lift to install the rebuilt engine though.

You need to find someone qualified to do what is necessary to fix what's wrong with the engine and the first thing he will do is determine what exactly is wrong and then advise you on the viability of repairing this engine or replacing it.

Based on your precious postings, I think you need to invoke the services of an expert or start to part the car out.

The wise man knows what he can do, can do with some help and tools and what he needs the true expert to do. Sometimes you just have to pay the man.

My 2nd hand info is in some cases the cracked cylinder can be machined away and a replacement liner installed.

Whether this is viable for your car's engine I can't say.

What I also can't say is whether a shop that does this will do just one cylinder. In all cases I am aware of all of the old cylinders were machined away and new liners fitted.

In the USA, Flat6Engineering might offer this service.

In the UK, Autofarm does this at least all cylinders, and maybe Hartech.

Scan Panorama and Excellence for any ads for engine rebuilders here in the USA and any that list engine cylinder repair/replacement give the shop a call.

Ask if one cylinder is an option.

Flat6 will recommend the Nikosil upgrade.

A used 3.2l with all the upgrades may be your best option. At this point, no option will be cheap.

And by upgrades, I mean IMS, h20 pump, rms, and chain guides (I would personally replace the 3 tensioners as well).
