Default What should i ask for my car? 2000 Boxster

Hi Guys,
I can't believe i'm considering selling my car already. I found a great deal on a 2003 911 turbo and seriously considering pulling the trigger if i can get my car sold in the next couple of weeks.
This is what i have.
2000 Boxster with 69kmiles. engine was replaced at the factory when it had 28k miles so the motor is of 2004 era with around 40k miles on it.
The Good:
When i bought it i spent nearly $4000 on IMS bearing upgrade, a new clutch, waterpump, AOS, new oil filler tube and a tune up. I honestly thought i'd keep the car for a while, that is until i found my dream car at a killer price. Full documentation at the dealership until my $3900+ repair which was done at Miller Motorsports in NC. The second owner bought the car when it had like 2k miles. so basically this is a one owner car.
The bad:
in 2006 the car was hit on the right front fender taking out the bumper, fender, and headlight. After a $10k repair bill because airbags deployed, the car was good as new. The last owner continued to drive the car with no issues. The car is solid as a rock and no issues what so ever as a result of the accident.

So what do you guys think my car is worth? I'm looking for a quick sale so i can catch my friends 911 turbo before he sells.

I suggest that you consult KBB (Kelly Blue Book) and Edmunds (http://www.edmunds.com/used-cars/). Without doing the research myself, I'm guessing that your car will be worth in the neighborhood of $12,000.

Thank you. I just wanted to see if any fellow forum members think i may get away by asking a little more thank KBB or edumunds.. Edmunds says $9500 which is ridiculous. KBB is a more reasonable $11500. I'm wondering if i could muster an extra $1500 over KBB private party and sell for $12500 to $13000 range.
I guess i have to find the right buyer that sees value in all the preventative maintenance i did.
I guess i'll post it and we'll see.
If anyone has a good idea, please shoot over your guess

Salvage title? Accident shows up on AutoCheck? Going to disclose? Will a casual buyer be impressed positively by all the work you have had done or negatively (being scared that maintenance costs so much)? It is a base.

$9k is my guess. But really ask and if someone pays, that is what it is worth to that person at that time in that location.

I like if you get $10K you will be doing well. Sorry, just my take for a car that has been smacked.

Thanks for the input guys. I paid around 10750 for the car last year. Then i spend $4000 on preventative maintenance and $500 on some Michelin Super Sports for the rear. I took into consideration it was in an accident. I have the repair bill for the accident and it does show in CARFAX. I would never buy a car that was in an accident recently and did not have proper documentation. I saw the accident and repair was in 2006. That to me said the owner kept the car and didn't dump it for 6 years. I know from personal experience if the car starts to act up after an accident, people usually dump the car fairly quickly.
Since then i talked to a couple of people i know in the car business here in Raleigh and they said wholesale is 8-9k. I'll give it a try on CL and see what offers i get. If i don't get 11-12k.. Guess i'll just keep it and hope for another chance to steal a 911 or 911 turbo.

Thanks again folks.. i appreciate the opinions

when selling it I would push all the preventative maintenance, especially the IMS and downplay the accident (be truthful about it though) you should be able to get 11-12 for it but you might have to sit on it till nicer weather.

You WA guys have to understand we have had 70-80 degree weather in central NC for the last month or so. Played golf in shirtsleeves on Xmas and New Years days. Not normal but darn nice. So today is perfect selling season.

There are 108 2000-2002 Boxsters on sale at cars.com and the low range (I throw out the top and bottom 5%) is asking $14.9k. The highest are twice that but won't sell. But that accident really depresses the price if the buyer asks.

Still, if I were selling and didn't really have to sell, I'd have a stack of comparables all printed out with those $14.9 figures on them, discount $2k asking to move it and, if I faced some negotiation, show the comparables as the reason for the asking price. It isn't like you were attempting to sell at the end of the season.

I wouldn't pay but $9k but that is me. Post in several craigslist NC locations.
