I don't consider a Porsche owner who fails to hit his car engine's redline frequently a namby pamby driver.

There are many owners who live and drive in areas where there is considerable congestion.

Even out in the boonies there are risks to agressive driving. There's the unexpected car pulliing out, livestock, wildlife, and the ever present 'bear'. (As an aside driving east through eastern Colorado late (very late) one night making good time my V1 went off, just a chirp. Did this several times in the space of a minute or so. Absolutely no towns around. No traffic. But here comes a car and sure enough it was a sheriff's car with the radar on.)

On this road trip across the southwest there are stretches of road where the temptation to hit redline is present. But there is still traffic and some of these vehicles are driven by wanna be law enforcement officers and will call in a 'drunk driving' report or reckless driving report and one gets pulled over.

Plus I can't remember when I've encountered so many radar speed traps. My V1 has saved me maybe 6 times this trip.

Also, there are many of us who have no interest in tracking our cars.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Default just drive it....

Well I understand cretinx and agree just drive it. Too much paranoia takes away from the joy of the car. However if I blew the engine out of my 2001 Boxster my wife would be on my case. Which brings me back to Macster or others with high mileage Boxsters. Are you going to buy the ims guardian still?
All I have to do is send them the authorization but I am still dragging my feet on it. Your comments would be appreciated. A puff of smoke I can take. A blown motor would end up with "I told you so"!

I'm afraid that you missed Oct. 7th deadline...you might now have an additional time to think about it.

With just a few K miles short of 250K miles on the original IMS (and original engine and even the original clutch -- though this is starting to get heavy) why would I want an IMS Guardian?

Sincerely,

Macster.

you don't need to purchase the $500 porsche motorsport air oil separator - I'm told there's been an update to the stock piece that is available for ~$100 that fixes the defects of the old one (known by Porsche to be defective, only admitted later - sound familiar?)

Depending on your model year car this might help (assuming the AOS is the problem).

These are all of the AOS revisions for the Boxster. 2003 is the latest one!

2003 99610702600 superseded by the above
1999 99610702304

1999 99610702302 superseded by the above
1998 99610702301 superseded by the above
1997 99610702351

well ****, I have the 2003 one and I still have AOS issues (boxster s, pss9 suspension, dot-r tires) - guess I should get the motorsports version.
