need reenlist help. Buddy owns a Boxster and thought that opening the roof in the winter was smart. He needs a replacement. Fabric is fine plastic is shot. Does he replace with glass or plastic? Second, does anyone know a shop that does this sort of work in the Philly region?
Thanks in advance

Glass vs plastic? well, you can't tear glass.. so his top came with plastic.. and the plactic is larger than the glass so you can't just swap one out for the other (it effects the folding as well). I know places that sell replacement tops, but not just a rear window.

Any top and interior shop can replace the rear window or install a new top/window. GAHH is one maker of the tops. I believe a new glass window top can be fitted to a Boxster than came with the plastic window.
Gibbles in Manheim PA does great interior and top work at low prices.

The gahh replacement top with GLASS, just like the later factory tops with glass, has a SMALLER rear window. The plastic window FOLDS.. no way you can make a glass window fold using the same top.
Also, actually, the factory glass window tops have redisnged bows. The gahh top requires some extra work to get the top into the "service" position to work on the motor.
Agreed that a good shop may have plastic/be able to source plastic and sew into your original top.
