Here's what I found in blown engine number 2....
metal shavings the size of a dime. Looks as though someone with a wood plane has been inside the engine?!? This was stuck to the handy magnetic drain plug that I got from LN. Any guesses as to the cause/source of the filings and shavings?

I got shavings that big with a seized IMS bearing (engine still running) was your engine still running? any noises or rough running? Attachment 537464

Yes, it was still running, but sounded like a bag full of wrenches when I shut it down. I had just installed the LN IMS upgrade, so I am hoping that is not the culprit. I am leaning towards rod bearing. I will be tearing the engine down over the next few weeks and will report the findings!

But aluminum is not going to stick to a magnetic drain bolt. Only ferous engine bits will. So what does that leave us with...cams and crank would seem like the most likely culprits.
