Default Left foot braking

Hi Crew,

Does any body know if you can disable the throttle cut out when you brake? You cannot left foot brake the way the car is wired from the factory.

Thanks,

Craig

You cannot disable the engine cut out on any Porsche since 2000. They are fitted with e-gas which is required to allow PSM to work. Your gas pedal is not connected directly to the throttle body, rather it is an input to the computer.

If you apply the brakes BEFORE the throttle you can then apply throttle while on the brakes. Not useful except for drying your brakes.

Best,

I've got an '03 S and regularly left foot brake. I just did a 3 day DE at Mid-Ohio and the only time the engine cuts power while on the brakes is if the ABS gets activated.

This is my second 03 S and both do it. There is about a 2 second delay, but non the less...a real pain.

I have a 2000 996 C2, without PSM but WITH E-Gas. No problem left foot braking.

Have you tried disabling PSM?

Luckily I have an early car and don't run into this problem. I think there are some aftermarket DME programs out there that can disable this.

You can have someone chip it to solve that problem. That's what I did on my 07 Cayman. My 00 Boxster does not have the problem.

If you are left foot braking for more than 2 seconds, I would say you need to brake less.

As previously said, programming can rid it should you really feel the need.
