They are out there. Sold a perfect '01S with 58k and Optima, new PS2s, etc for lots less than you guys are talking about.

It seems like there are a lot less for sale this year compared to the past. I was hoping to spend 11-13k and 15 as a max.

Keep in mind that once the new model comes out in a couple of months, the 986 will be two models old, Worthwhile as a negotiating comment, but also I'd expect lots to be available as trades start happening.

Look around Swickley, there used to be an active market there. Also mainline Philly. Though when I look at Craigslist I'm amazed at what people are asking. And in January. OTOH, I did a search on $10-15k cars within 250 miles of DC and found a lot of reasonably priced cars. I have had luck using a bunch of those as comparables in persuading a seller that my offer was reasonable. Both times I bought from a private party.

The key is to take your time. There are some sweet cars available if you are patient. I would look at E-bay as well as craigslist and autotrader. The more cars you look at the better you get at spotting the signs of an abused car. When you spot one you don't waste any more time. Always get an mechanical inspection if you buy without having driven it such as on E-bay.

I definitely check a lot of places.
I check here, 986forum. cars.com, autotrader, ebay, craigslist and rideslist.

It'll be a matter of time before i find something that fits the bill.

I've even checked on the west coast and there aren't many at a reasonable price.

I have this cream puff for sale. It is a one owner car (well I am the second owner actually, but have driven it only a couple hundred miles before finding a TT I'd rather have and sending it over to Titan to move for me). The original owner had full documentation. It is priced to move.

I did see that one on the 986 forum but the cost to transport to pa is pretty high.
