Default 1999 Boxster for autocross

Looks like me and a buddy are co-owners on a '99 Boxster. Has a dent in the right rear fender, needs rotors and pads, good top, all gauges and lights work, interior is good. We plan on developing the car from stock to street prepared and then street modified. And just have a lot of fun on the way

Check out the BSX and BSR (Boxster Spec) rules before you change anything on the car. You might want to consider exactly what is and what is not specifically allowed in these race classes. http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=38383

the car won't be anywhere competitive in SM unless you're planning something wacky like a 3.4 swap or a turbo.

to be honest the 2.5s are really only competitive in BSP which allows more camber change.

the 2.7s are extremely competitive in CS.

And BSX is an autox spec class for Boxsters that feeds into BSR for road racing.
Just a thought and gives him more places to play.

Yeah, just autocross. I have read multiple threads on Boxster mods and I'm aware of the limitations of the 2.5L. Obviously SSM would require drastic HP gains to be competitive. 3.4L upgrade or Flat 6 Innovations rebuild are being considered. Basically this car is a project and would only see regional competition some quite some time.

Is BSX with some other autocross organization?

I race with the SCCA and I've never heard of it.

Can you give me a link?

I think if you build the car for BSP you'll be very pleased with its performance.

You could skip SSM and go to XP maybe? - There is a guy out here.. grant? grantsfo? some such name who spent a lot of time modding an early Boxster.. down to about 2100lb? Slicks, cage etc... Certainly no different than what folks did to 914s 30 years ago!

Yep, we saw that one on a SCCA Forum. Lot's of goodies and ready to rock. But isn't the build half the fun

Ordered pads and rotors from Paragon $275 for the whole kit. Nothing special but a hell of a price. My buddy is on the fluids. We'll do engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant and brake fluid before we give it a spin at regional autocross. He's popping in a fresh thermostat with the coolant just to be safe.

Brakes are done. They look good and really work well!

Porsche Club of America (PCA) recognizes BSR and BSX classes for AX, time trial, and racing.

NASA and POC also recognize the class for PDS(POC's entry level Performance Driving Series), time trial and racing.
