Default SBOX 99 986 wheel fitment question

just curious, on a 1999 986 boxster 2.5l , etc. , i noticed many were using the wider toyo up front as well as in the back.

are you just using the a pair of rear wheels on the front of the car? any issues with fitment??

do you find any tracking issues?

its interesting because that seems to be one area i believe where Nasa and Pca vary in sbox rules. id love to give it a try and see if the hard handles better that way.

was just curious. thx.

It is my understanding that some guys are running a "square" set up and have reported tht this helps dial out some of the understeer.
Don't know about the legalities of a particular run group...

The rules designate a 225 in front and a 255 in rear. The "square" 255 has yet to be approved, but most in Texas run them that way.

You will need to run a spacer to install the wider wheels and tires to the front of the car.

PCA Club Racing rules allow the SPBs to run either the 225s or 255s on the front of the car. It is the other sanctioning body that only allows the 225s in the front.

I run with POC (Porsche Owner's Club) and they just have the rules designated by the NASA national rules. So when national rules change, so do POC's. Find it odd that PCA has their own version of Spec Box. At this point it's just wheels and tires, I hope it doesn't wonder to other items so the spec box class is no longer universal.

Not saying I agree with certain rules, but they are what they are and if everyone has to play by them then you're not at a disadvantage.

Steve,

Some folks in PCA are running the rear 17x8.5 stock wheel on all four corners. Spacers are allowed in PCA on this config up front.

From the PCA National rules for 2011: Front wheels may be either 17 x 7 inch, 55 mm offset, or the same size and offset as the rear wheels (17 x 8.5 inch, 48-50 mm offset)

Best,
-Paul

Can't you get away w not using a spacer if you're using pss9's? I heard that coilovers give you more clearance.
