The prototype was a success! The poduct will be called Robo-Top!

I will place an order for the production batch tomorrow and I'll hopefully have the product in my hands and ready to sell soon, but that depends on the manufacturer's shipping.

Boards came in a few days ago. They will be assembled more than likely on Tuesday.

Robo-Top units will be available sometime later this week!

I'll release the website and details then!

Anyway, I'd pay less than $100 for something to make operation 1-touch, but probably not more than $100. So, $75 sounds good to me.
Are there any instructions around to do the pin 18 hack?

If you found it on Pedros, you're good, but for reference:
I was never quite sure if it was a 'feature' or a 'defect' (I'm thinking defect), but having to stop the car and pull the handbrake to operate the top sure is annoying. At the PCA fun run today, another Boxster owner told me how easy it was to bypass the handbrake and speedo signals, and I set upon it immediately when I got home. Took a couple tries, as the bolt I tried to ground the relay's handbrake pin to apparently is grounded to nothing but plastic, but I finally find a spot to ground it, and got it working. So I can finally operate the top while rolling

I did a search on here and didn't see the procedure. If anyone's interested:

1. Pull the cab top relay (under the dash, above the fuse panel- it's a double-wide relay, was the only double relay on my panel. Mine had all the pin functions labeled in German on it.)
2. Bend pin 18 (speedometer) over. I covered in with electrical tape, but it's probably not necessary.
3. Bend pin 15 (handbrake) over.
4. Attach a wire to pin 15 and ground it to something on the car- I dremeled the paint off the fascia rail under one of the screws of the lavender OBD port, and grounded to there.
5. Reinstall the relay.

It's completely reversible if you screw something up. Just try not to break your relay. I did discover if it's not bonded well, the top will NOT operate. So, there is potential here that if the connection loosens, the top might not operate.
I did this to my '04 986S four years ago. Had some issues with the OBDII grounding point, but moved the ground lead to a better spot and 4 years later, still no issues. It's oh so nice to not have to be stopped with the friggen parking brake on.

With regards to the handbrake, it is pretty simple to just pull it up one click and open/close the top. One click is enough to satisfy the relay that the handbrake is on, but one click doesn't engage the brakes enough to keep you from rolling (I don't think one click engages the brakes at all). Just disabling the speedometer connection works pretty good for me.

The only part that bugs me with the current operation is having to hold the button the whole time of opening/closing the top. Not sure it's worth $80 yet, but maybe?

$75 sounds good. I did the complete Dempsey mod w/ ground so no parking brake needed, but one touch would be nice.
