I have a 2002 Boxster S, PSM,Brake ABS lights on and the tiptronic doesn't work
but the trans works find in auto. I get a code of 5500, speed sensor.
Anybody had this problem?

Sounds like you have an ABS wheel speed sensor problem. I don't have POSES in front of me, but that sounds like a generic code. What control module are you retrieving the code from? ABS? Engine DME? Tiptronic? If you have a Tiptronic fault, the lights at the top and bottom of the gear-selection indicator will be illuminated / flashing. If you got the code from the Tiptronic computer, there could be a problem with the vehicle speed sensor.

PSM 5.7 fault code 5500 is indeed related to wheel speed monitoring.

Average speed of one wheel differs by at least 5% from the speed of the other wheels for longer than 20 seconds or if one or more wheels are controlled for longer than 60 seconds.

Requires vehicle speed be greater than 20kph for at least 80 seconds.

Possible causes of the fault: Incorrect tire pressure or wheel size or spare fitted; play in wheel bearing too great; toothed ring/pulse ring is soiled or damaged; incorrect or faulty speed sensor; PSM control unit faulty.

The Tip transmission might revert to some limited mode of operation due to the necessary and critical speed sensor inputs not being valid.

Sincerely,

Macster.
