Default FS New from Factory G86.20 gearboxes $5,000.00

Hey there everyone,

I recently ran across a great deal on Boxster S gearboxes new from the factory.

If you are racing one of these or having an issue with your 2000-2002 Boxster S gearbox, you might want to consider picking one of these up.

Cost on this is $5000.00 plus shipping. This is a pretty decent deal as you will not have to pay a core fee and the listed price from Porsche is $6143.75 plus core.

I have access to several of these, but probably not for too long, as I am sure that the spec Boxster crowd will probably be all over these for spares.

Happy to help,

Erik Johnson

The Spec Boxster guys won't be all over that one, or better not be !
The Boxster S transmission is different than the Spec Boxster transmission. I would have thought you would have known that.

My bad, I was under the impression that there was a spec series for the Boxster S cars as well. Thanks for the correction.

Not really, just think about the engine transmission orientation differences between the 996 and 986, got it ?

Or 6 forward, 1 reverse, now with rear steering only, and front engine/front wheel drive in a 911 .

Internally they are pretty much the same, just with the ring gear running on the other side. They are the same PITA press fit gears with a limited number of rebuilds on them because of the interference fit. It's basically a throwaway box after a couple of services.

But the fact of the matter is that it's a stronger more durable gearbox than the 987 chassis' 6spd box. I know a couple of racers who have backdated their late Boxster S to this gearbox because it holds up better.

I havn't looked at a 987 trans but is it also a Aisian (japanese) like the 997 ?
986 is Getrag like 996.

The 987 is a Getrag. It's just not a very beefy one.

Sorry everyone,

The source that I had for these turned out to be something other than what I expected. I am not able to offer this gearbox at the listed price any longer.

Thanks for looking though.
