I'm looking at an 01 S and noticed that at 17k the dealer replaced the RMS back in late 01.
Given that it was replaced, should I worry about it failing again?
Is there anything else that can fail on an 01 that can be potentially catastrophic?
I notice the earlier cars had a few problems but thought they were mostly sorted out by 01.
TIA!

How many miles?
In the last year or so my 01S (currently 67K) has needed a MAF, an air-oil separator, and both rear wheel bearings. My starter is going too so I have one of those on the shelf to be swapped in any time now.
If the motor is dry I wouldn't worry about the leaks. If you read up on the intermediate shaft (IMS) issue, that is the other potential issue with these cars... though by some accounts it can be overblown, it is catastrophic if it fails. D-chunk failure is not as common on the 3.2 due to thicker cylinder walls.
That's about it... in my experience, these cars need to be driven. They do not like to sit. But they are fun as hell to drive and great value for the money, so it is hard to complain.

Don't worry too much about the RMS issue. If it weeps a bit, watch your levels and change it when you need a new clutch.
i am with Schwank. Drive it and do the maintenance.
