Default help with P1115

I need some help I have been getting the P1115 code
P1115 Oxygen Sensor Heating 1 After Catalytic Converter - Above Upper Limit

I am not sure what to do. The car(Boxster S 2000, 56k) runs great.
My question is what I don't understand is that the check engine will go on for a few days they go off and stay off for a few days.
Therefore not sure if I should change the MAF.
Do you think it is really defective since it keeps going on and off every so many miles driven?
TIA

That code is not for the MAF - it is for an O2 sensor. Based on year and mileage not that unusual. There are 4 total sensors - each will give a different code if bad. These don't fail completely -just sort of wear out - hence the intermitent light. Good news is that it is a relatively easy DIY. Research the code a bit - it will tell you if it is pre/after cat and passenger or driver side.

My Porsche OBD references at work. I'll check them. The heating above upper limit sort of interests me.

Error code points to O2 sensor not MAF as Silver Box correctly pointed out.

You could just replace both #2 (after the converters) O2 sensors. They can be bought mail order/on line for reasonable money and are not hard to change.

Sincerely,

Macster.

MarcW that is the Bank 1 pre-cat code, not the post cat code.

http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/oxygensensors will give you a cross reference to the exact Bosch part Porsche uses. Buy one, replace the one that is bad on the passenger side nearest the engine, cancel the CEL, drive for a while and lets see what happens.

If you don't want to get under there and do it yourself (make sure you let things cool, that CAT is HOT), buy the part and go to any muffler shop. Mine charged me $37.50 to swap mine out.

Just going by what poster posted in his original post:

"P1115 Oxygen Sensor Heating 1 After Catalytic Converter - Above Upper Limit"

I looked for my Porsche OBD references at home this AM and couldn't find them. Thought I left them at office. (Had to make room in my laptop case for my growing Turbo insurance file...) But searched the office and don't see references here either.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Ok, I found my Porsche OBD references at home. P1115 is: Oxygen Sensor Heating 1 Ahead of Catalytic Converter -- Below Lower Limit.

The sensor is cold. It needs to be hot to work right. The sensor is a heated sensor and chances are the heater is going out or gone out.

There are electrical tests one can perform to verify this.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Default thanks

Thanks for the replies.
Sorry about writing MAF in the first post. I meant 02 sensor but I was reading other posts and MAF stuck in my head.
I have included a pdf of the actual error code if it helps.
Thanks
