Didn't think so. Thanks for the replies.

How much do you think that part in the image above is worth now that I have it but can't use it?

You can actually make it work if you remove the leather boot from the shift **** itself. Here's some examples of how this company removes the boot from the shift ****, and then puts the boot from the 996/986 upgraded ***** with the aluminum horseshoe onto the newer 997 type *****, and then sells them.

I also did this on my boxster's shift **** to get the aluminum horseshoe boot on it. So, the **** itself will fit on your car, but you just have to modify the boot. The way to do this is to just look on the underside of the ****, and you'll see that the boot is just held onto it by way of a zip tie. Just cut the zip tie to release the boot from the ****, and then install the older 996/986 boot on the newer 997/987 type **** using the existing o-clips found from the 987 boot.

You can buy just the horse shoe aluminum boot from Carnewal.com, to attach to that **** you see on ebay.

Carbon 997 shift **** on the 996/986 boot:

Well, you can find them from dismantlers or on ebay from time to time. I got my shift **** in new condition for half the price of what the dealer charges from ebay from a guy who bought a different **** because he wanted it to match his tan interior. The boot, I bought new from Carnewal, but you can find the boots from dismantlers from time to time too.

That is exactly what I did for my 986S shift ****. The 987 will work only if you remove the leather and install the leather portion of your 986. I love the feel of the 987 shift **** a lot better.
