Mid engine cars are tricky in the wet.

If you built a "true" SPBOX car then you could run in both SPBOX and GT5 in PCA. It would also run GTS2 in NASA.

Once you start getting up in GT classes (like 4 and higher) you are just chasing the guy with the biggest wallet. It gets very pricey to get competitive. Besides, I can't imagine the 986 is the best platform to build a GT car with the stock motor. See where the money pit is?

Just go get yourself a 97-99 2.5L like I did and get it over to Greg to start the SPBOX build and let's go racing!!!!! We need to get Craig, John Carey, and some of the others to follow as well. How fun would that be?

Dell,

Did you get a 986? Are you going to run SPBOX?

As you know I am moving down to your neck of the woods and I have been considering this for a while.

Matt, you really need to pic a class FIRST then a car. If you want to run SPBOX then you need to get a 97-99 986. Picking a car first is the wrong way.

My SPOBOX has the option if there are small fields in the beginning with SPBOX can also run GT5 in PCA but probably not that competitive since GT class is $$$. I could throw a temp carpet and a passenger seat (both asinine rules IMHO) in and run it in E. Like I said, it would run NASA GTS2 but I would probably need to get a set of Hoosiers on a third set of wheels to do that and have a better chance to podium.

Then again, with your ADHD, you should probably just rent a warehouse and have 1 car for EVERY class so you will always have something when you change your mind

Matt,
How much for the 04 S? You don't want to pay more than $16 for it, beyond that you are wasting money. Get it if price is low, I have all the numbers for GTS 3 and GT4 if you want.

3.4L 996 motor in early box S
fiberglass body all over, huge fenders and slicks. not competitive in GT3 i am afraid.
