Default Stock tires?

A friend of mine has an 02 Boxster S and he tells me it came stock with Michelin PS2's. I thought they all came with Pirelli P Zeros?

Can anyone educate me?

They came randomly from the factory with either, Michelin, Pirelli, Continental and perhaps even Bridgestone brands. I've heard that this was so Porsche would not be dependent on a single manufacture to supply tires in the event of product shortages and hold ups during development cycles. I believe this is true for the 997 and 997 as well.

This is true. When I ordered my Boxster from the factory and I wanted PZero's but the car came equiped with Conti's. The dealer at the time told me I couldn't specify the tires.

The fronts will be ok, however the rears need a different offset. They made the turbo style wheel with a boxster offset and was a factory option when new. Call Wheel Enhancement in California, they should be able to help you with the spcifics of the offsets.
