I have a 2001 Boxster S. Does anyone have a link to some instructions or replacment procedure on how to replace the coolant reservoir tank in the rear trunk?
Had a look at mine and it looks impossible to remove the clamps behind the firewall. I can see them I just don't know how to get my hand on them to remove the clamps in such a tight area.
Thanks
Ron

it's a rough job. the best thing you can do is to buy a special hose clamp tool. it is basically a pincher on the end of a cable; you position it on the hose clamp and squeeze the remote trigger. i will pinch & hold open the clamp. during reassembly, replace the spring type clamps with screw type clamps.
the tool i'm talking about looks like this:

i got mine at a pep boys for around $30 i think.

JB Weld or a similar 3M epoxy can save you some serious bucks. Since I do not know where it is leaking from it could be beyond repair. But no one is going to see it for sure. I have repaired several resin/plastic radiators with it.

IMO, the jb weld idea is a waste of time. you will work hard to repair the problem and it will just crack right next to the repair. do the right thing & replace the bottle. it's not worth an overheat & subsequent motor failure. FYI, the 'd-chunk' failure, whereby the MMX composite of the cylinder wall fractures, can be caused by slight overheating. not worth the risk.

I bought the hose clamp tool but ended up putting my 9 year old son on top of the motor to hold the clamp from moving and I crawled under the car with multiple extensions on a rachet to put the new screw type hose clamp on the ones on the bottle. What a pain. It took me two weeks since I can never seem to dedicate more than an hour or so at a time to any one project.
