You can find a used one, just look in Excellence magazine there are a few people that sells used parts.

One thought is to get the 2003 bumper with the "diffuser". Maybe you would like the look.

Get the Bentley manual.
The best $100 you can spend on your Boxster

Aman,

I forget where I saw this, but I cut and pasted and saved it to a text file for when I swapped out the exhaust on my Boxster. I took off the rear bumper to get to it and it's really very easy to do. Removing the spoiler to get to a couple of screws is about the hardest part.

You'll need a 10mm socket with extension, Cross screw driver and a allen socket (forgot the size) with extension.

First manually lift the rear spoiler by pressing the up button on the button on your fuse cover where the driver sits. Then take out the 3 snap in button screws from your spoiler by pressing the center of them inwards then pulling the entire plastic screw out

now remove the painted piece of the spoiler, underneath you will see 2 allen bolts holding the metal frame of the spoiler to the car... remove those.

once removed you can lift the metal frame out, then you'll see several screws holding the center upper portion of the bumper to the car, remove those.

then lay on the floor and look under the car and you will see several screws holding the bottom lip of the rear bumper to the car, remove any that you see there.

now look under your bumperettes, theres a small hole slot under each one, inside the slot there's an allen bolt, loosen it and the bumperette can be pulled off.

finally, look on the inside of the rear wheel tunnel and you will see either 1 cross screw or 1 10mm bolt head, it holds the outter edges of the rear bumper to the rear fenders, one per side. remove them and you can go ahead and pull the rear bumper off now.

It is probably very similar to the work required to remove the rear bumper on the 997. Take a look inside the Rennlist do it yourself section on the 997. I posted something there awhile back.

Its easy but as you remove it note carefully the way the heatshield fits along the bottom and put the new one back the same way.
