I had my side grills painted silver a couple years ago and its holding up fine. No problems! I don't have a breakdown on the price though, I had other items painted at the same time.

I took my side grills out and rattle-canned them silver. Total cost $4. It's held up and looks great, actually. Since they're textured and not enough light gets in there, you can't tell that it's a cheap rattle-can job.

On my second page it shows the 2 sections of the side vents.

Looks like there are some tabs on the slotted section of the grill. I tried to remove them last evening ... did not feel any tabs, tho.

All I got was filthy.

I don't think my '05 has side grills as I see in your photos. Your's may be of an earlier version. Mine seem to be just one piece and shaped differently as well.

BTW, each side is different. The passenger side is "open", but the driver's side is mostly closed. I wonder if they are functional in some way, or just "grills".

Still would like to know how to remove them for a spray.

They are shaped differently for a reason. The drivers side is the air intake and the passenger side is the exhaust. I thought the same thing when I first noticed the difference in shape!

I still don't know how to remove the dang things. It appears they are just one piece .... but, I can't determine if there are clips or what. I don't wanna pull hard and have bits and pieces.

BTW .... the 2005+ are larger and different than previous Boxster models.
