Why replace it with a 2.5 or even 2.7, when 3.4 996 used motors are plentiful? If I were to spend the money, may as well get some real peformance increase.

I am doing it because its a spec boxster and dont have a choice. If it were a street car then yes I would go with a 3.4 996 motor

I agree with you. Right now I am scared to death to buy one. I am going to wait to see how the newer 295Hp boxster S's hold up. BUT I will say that really miss mine.
