Default M030 question...

I may have the pick of two Boxster to buy this weekend. I am pretty set on one but the other has 7" wide wheels in the front and 8.5" wide in the back. The dealer said he thought this might indicate it came with the M030 package. The Boxster isn't my area of expertise so I thought I might throw that question out there. Obviously, I know just because it has the wheel size (if indeed that is different from stock) doesn't mean it is the M030 package, but my question is... did the M030 package come from the factory with different size wheels and if so, what size?

Actually, the more I think about it, I looked up the option codes for the Boxster line and I don't even see M030 listed in there. Was this an available option? Would it show up on the option code sticker under the front hood?

Well, I had the dealer look at the option code sticker and read me all the codes. No M030 or any sport packages indicated.

So, does that mean that a car having a 7" wide tire up front and 8.5" out back is normal?

IIRC that's the standard size for 17 inch wheels on a Boxster, while 8(f) and 9(r) is standard for 18 inch wheels

most every Porsche runs staggered sizes

Stock sizes are 17x7 and 17x8.5 Rear in 17's.
In 18's, it's 18x7.5 and 18x9.

Boxsters were not available with 8" front wheels, from the factory at least.

Option codes are on the underside of the front hood right?
Not to sound naive but, did the US even get the option or m030 from the factory? I have been looking for a few days and can't seem to find any...
Do you have to get a ROW (rest of world?) setup and install it yourself?

The US had its own version of M030. If a US car has it, it will be marked with an "030" in the options list under the hood.

The US 030 springs maintain the stock USA ride height. They are no lower than the standard USA springs but they are stiffer, noticably stiffer. In fact I think they're stiffer than the RoW 030 springs, which lower the car a bit.

The RoW kit is the way to go for street drivers, in my opinion.
