Price check on MY99
H All,
I have a friend who is thinking about selling his MY99 with 66k miles. Car is in good condition but it does have a salvage title. He's had it for a couple years and the salvage was due to a right front side hit. It's not a daily driver as this is either a 4th or 5th car. Oh..manual transmission.
TIA.

I hate to even guess being a salvage. That will make *most* folks shy away considering the number of decent examples around. I'm sure somebody would have a ballpark number though.
I guess you could search through edmunds etc for 99 average price.

Also, I'm sorta thinking of taking it off his hands and possibly do some DEs and AXs with it. How reliable is the 99 - read somewhere once you're over 60k miles you should be safe - is that true?

12-15k? no way. do not pay that much. I paid 5k more for an 01S a year ago!
10k would be my high offer on that car if I was looking for a track car. I am guessing it is low on options?

I was thinking 10k after doing my one day research. It also seems like the maintnance outside having to replace and engine is way cheaper than the 944T/S2. Right or wrong?

I have had a good amount of luck with the Boxster so far. (less than a year)
My 944's I was alway upgrading to better, less worn parts. ( I would always go to junk yards and get spare interior pieces. ) Clutch is cheaper on the Boxster to do.

I paid $15k back in October for a 50k mile, very clean 99'. Of course it's now a Spec Boxster. I would think $8-10 k if it's in really good condition. I would have the frame checked for straightness and check how the front tires are wearing. It would make a perfect Spec Boxster is anyone's looking for a donor....

I've been looking for a 986 recently as a DD/DE car. They are all over the place at $12k (asking price) in good shape w/ clean title.
I'm thinking $8500 due to the salvage title seems more reasonable.

I too have been looking for a Boxster. From what I've seen 10k would be the top and 8k would probably be the low atleast if I was looking to buy it.
