Default PORSCHE Genuine Boxster 986 Red C-Clip Activates Alarm!

PORSCHE Genuine Boxster 986 Red C-Clip Activates Alarm! This fits in the area where the hook from the convertable top fits into. This allows the alarm to function when the top is down.

I am looking for the part number for this C-Clip.

if you, or a thief, removes this clip while the car is alarmed, does it sound the alarm? If not, it would be worthless.

yes, it goes off

if you stick your arm in the alarm sounds after about 5 seconds, you don't need your arm in there for 10 seconds, it just seems to take that long to honk

if you drop something in the seat (a shirt, that's what my wife did yesterday) the alarm sounds

No the alarm will not sound if you remove the clip (if you are careful to avoid the motion sensors detection zone). However, the motion sensor will remain active (and activate the alarm if you reach in the car) so the clip is not useless.

If you manually reach over and depress the micro switch that the clip activates as you lock the car (hold the switch for about 5 seconds) the motion sensors will stay active after you release the switch. Obviously just using the clip simplifies the whole process.

Can the clip just be left in place all the time, or must it be placed when you want it to protect the open car???

Not if you want to put the top up it can't. The clip was originally designed to be used with the optional speedster humps. If you install the clip it holds down the micro switch that tells the ECU that the top is up. This tricks the system so that the top is not operated while the humps are installed (this could damage the car/top). The side benefit is when the ECU thinks the top is up it activates the motion sensors when the alarm is activated (these sensors are normally not operational when the top is down and the alarm is engaged).
