End bearing shaft seal leak in my SC cost me $650 to fix--almost all labor. Case leaks are horribly expensive--you have to drop the engine and maybe split the case. $2500 and up. Avoid those in an old car. I don't expect such problems in a Boxster--at least the post 2000 ones. The engines run cooler, for one. Looks like around 190F, in my first driving.

How would one go about making a bastard boosted Boxster? The block would ned some strengthening, rods, pistons, and major boost to make the car wicked. I guess maybe you would want to find a turbo block? Or would that not fit?

Well, That could be true in thier stock form, but a couple comments:

Thats what Mechanics are paid to say, like CPAs - they are deal killers.
Technically, I would agree, and that is why I was trying to infer some sort of engine out work.
There is a kit out right now with what I would assume to be a moderatley large group of satisfied customers.

What gas to use in these cars? Is 91 octane OK? The book says 91 is acceptable, though 93 preferred.

i'm not sure what that means...the only person paying my mechanic to work on my car is me, and i didn't pay him to say that.

You'd have to have been there.
