Cool California Hwy 17

I'm in the Bay Area for work this week, and today I got to drive down Hwy 17 from San Jose to Santa Cruz. What a great drive! I only wish it were in my Boxster, and not my rental Caddy Seville.

I've also done large chunks of PCH on other trips. Man, you Babblers have some terrific drives to do!

I live in San Jose and go to Santa cruz all the time. I usually avoid 17 at certain times as there is too much traffic and trucks in the way. I like to go down there the back way on Soquel-San Jose road, which is off the Summit Road exit. Twisty road under the redwood trees. Jeff

I love 17! Ive never had the privelage of taking my Porsche through that as i only visit and dont have my car. I always see Ferraris blaze by me in both directions on that road early in the morning. Makes me wish i had mine out there! The east coast is totally lacking in "hairpin highways."

That road chews up more cars than just about any other in the area. It's really dangerous in the winter, as it is a very heavy commute route.

Without traffic (very rare!) it IS a wonderful drive.
