How fragile is the MAF sensor? Check engine light lead to error code pointing to MAF sensor. The sensor had oil residue on it, I cleaned it with contact cleaner, re-installed it and reset the light. Two days later, the light is back on with same trouble code (intake air flow, OK to drive), this time the MAF is clean.

Should I buy a new sensor or am I going to waste my money on it?

Are they easily damaged by contamination?

Some say it can be cleaned and others say not because it changes the parameters. If you have an oiled filter replace it with the oem paper filter and take it in. Jeff
